Community Music In Action is a newly-established charity founded in 2011 by members of FUNdamentally GOSPEL, a community choir in Beckenham. The charity funds music projects in Bromley and neighbouring boroughs, targeting vulnerable and disadvantaged groups of people who, for social or economic reasons, may not otherwise have the opportunity to access such activities.

The projects run by Community Music In Action aim to afford participants the opportunity to experience first hand the positive impact of making music with others.

“As a choir we have all benefited hugely from singing together. We set up this charity
so that others in our local community could enjoy the same experience.”

Becky Lees
Projects Officer, CMIA

Also at the heart the charity’s purpose, is the promotion of community participation in the provision of the musical activities and as such, whilst all projects are led by experienced musicians and professional workshop leaders, additional volunteer facilitators are sought from the charity membership. Regular communication with members and supporters ensures that those involved in the fundraising know exactly how the money is being used and of the positive impact it is having on the lives of others in their local community.

Community Music In Action‘s long-term vision is to unite numerous local musical groups and businesses with a common purpose. Why not find out how you can get involved?
