On Tuesday we went along to Carers Bromley ‘Festive Concert’, to show our support. Having collected a complimentary glass of mulled wine, we joined one of the tables in the packed hall, and waited for it all to start.
First up were Tubbenden Primary School choir, who performed some traditional carols and well known Christmas songs. They were very sweet, with a couple of lovely solos as well.
Carers Bromley choir were next and delivered some brilliant harmonies. They finished with their alternative version of ‘We wish you a Merry Christmas’ which was very clever and raised a laugh.
‘Just Voices’, an excellent a cappella singing group, and ‘Just for show’, a 3 part ensemble followed, after which refreshments were served to us in the interval.
The second half featured ‘The Ukulaviators’, singing and playing some well-known songs on their ukuleles. and 3’s Company, a 3-part male vocalist group, although only two could make it on the day(!)
The afternoon commenced with a raffle and ‘sing-along’ Christmas song, leaving us all feeling thoroughly festive!
Last night, the ‘Carers Bromley Choir’ performed alongside other local amateur groups at the Summer Spritzer 2014 in Beckenham, in aid of Macmillan Cancer Relief.
It was a great evening and the choir have grown so much in sound and confidence – well done to them!
For the month of February Community Music in Action have once again been selected by Waitrose Beckenham, to take part in their ‘Community Matters’ scheme.
Please help us by putting your ‘green tokens’ in our box. The more we receive, the bigger percentage of the £1000 we secure!
So get spending, and spread the word…
It seems like only yesterday that we were rushing around getting ready for Christmas, and suddenly it’s all over and here we are in 2014!
2013 was a busy year for Community Music In Action, with no less than four projects taking place. Rehearsals resumed for the Carers Bromley Choir on Monday 13 January, and we look forward to hearing what they have planned for this term. Many thanks to Sarah for volunteering with the choir last term, and for her lively and informative weekly blogs.
Local Beckenham choir FUNdamentally GOSPEL held their Winter Concert on the 14 December, with all proceeds going to CMIA. I’m pleased to announce it was another huge success, with uplifting music, a packed house, and a whopping £886 raised. Thank you to everyone who came along and helped make it such a fun evening!
Here is one of the songs from the concert – ‘Joyful, Joyful’ (feat. Sarah Archard). Enjoy!
Roll up, roll up, for the FUNdamentally GOSPEL Winter Concert TONIGHT!
Come and revel in the choir’s uplifting mix of pop, soul, gospel and world music. With membership of the choir continuing to grow and a bank of repertoire ranging from Mumford & Sons to Mariah Carey via Hezekiah Walker and MC Hammer, plus a healthy dose of Christmas cheer, it promises to be the best event yet, and we very much hope you will be able to join us for a lively evening of soul-stirring music-making in aid of Community Music In Action.

A huge thank you to Simon Gregory and his team at Beckenham-based Peach Design who kindly donated two pull-up banners to us. These will be used to raise the profile of the charity at concerts and other fundraising events, and we’re very grateful to them for supporting our work in this way.
Thanks also to Sarah Archard for lending us her dazzling design skills once again and producing such a smart and stylish set of banners using the logo she kindly designed for us last year.
